TEMPLARS has acted as Nigerian legal counsel to FinDev Canada, Canada’s bilateral Development Finance Institution, in connection with its USD 100 million loan facility to Africa Finance Corporation (AFC).
The facility will enable AFC to fund a pipeline of climate projects, including solar and wind power in sub-Saharan Africa, and support a low-carbon railway infrastructure project in Central Africa.
This transaction represents FinDev Canada’s first partnership with AFC and is an important step towards expanding FinDev Canada’s market presence in Africa. This partnership aligns with efforts to foster more long-term, impact-focused investment into Africa’s infrastructure, especially in the renewable energy and low-emission transport sectors, where there are both major challenges and significant opportunities.
The TEMPLARS transaction team was led by Finance, Energy, and Projects Partner, Desmond Ogba, with support from Managing Counsel, Obianuju Ifebunandu, and Associates, Femi Matthew and Jumoke Ajide.
