Oyinda Afolabi is an Associate in the Firm’s Energy and Natural Resources Practice Group at TEMPLARS.
Oyinda holds an LL.B. from the University of Essex and is called to the Nigerian Bar.
She advises clients across the energy and natural resources sector on a broad range of corporate, transactional and regulatory matters. Her work spans gas supply and offtake arrangements, project finance and development, mergers and acquisitions, financings and compliance with Nigeria’s evolving petroleum regulatory framework, particularly following the enactment of the Petroleum Industry Act, 2021.
She has been involved in several landmark transactions and projects, including advising on the development and financing of a crude oil export terminal and a methanol plant located in an oil and gas free zone in Nigeria. She also supports clients on upstream and midstream infrastructure projects, particularly in relation to gas commercialization and industry reforms.
Before joining Templars, Oyinda was a key member of a boutique energy law firm, where she advised clients on transactions and projects within the energy space. She began her legal career at a leading Nigerian law firm where she gained experience in corporate commercial and dispute resolution practice, representing clients in negotiations and court proceedings across several sectors including energy, mining, aviation and labour.
