David Akpeji is an experienced Associate in the Firm’s Energy and Natural Resources Practice Group.
He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Benin and was admitted to practice law in Nigeria.
Prior to joining TEMPLARS, David gained valuable experience at an energy focused law firm in Lagos, where he advised on transactions and regulatory issues across the oil and gas, power, and renewable energy industries.
David’s core areas of practice include oil and gas transactions, power and renewable energy projects, infrastructure development, energy-sector mergers and acquisitions, and project finance.
Selected Experience
- Advising an international oil company in connection with the proposed establishment of LNG and FLNG plants in Nigeria.
- Advising a major gas supplier on the recovery of legacy debt from gas sales to an electricity generation company.
- Advised a petroleum prospecting licence holder in connection with its well drilling campaign.
- Advised an oil and gas company on the acquisition of a 51% participating interest in an oil mining lease.
- Advised a Canadian renewable energy company on a US$13 million capital raise exercise.
- Advised a power company on the establishment of an embedded generation power plant and an independent electricity distribution network in Northern Nigeria.
- Advised a renewable energy company on the acquisition of a “Power-as-a-Service” asset, including drafting of the relevant transaction documentation.
