Michael Oforma is an Associate in the firm’s Dispute Resolution practice, with experience in commercial litigation and arbitration.

Michael holds a Bachelor of Laws degree having graduated from Babcock University and completed his professional training at the Nigerian Law School. He also holds a Diploma in Criminology and Security Studies, which he obtained with Upper Credit.

Since joining the firm, Michael has developed a niche practice in banking and finance disputes, as well as advisory services. He has demonstrated a strong commitment to delivering strategic, commercially focused, and effective solutions to complex legal issues. Michael’s exceptional performance, diligence, and dedication to excellence were recently recognized with a Letter of Commendation from the Deputy Managing Partner for his outstanding results in the firm’s cross-practice assessment.

Representative Experience

• Representing a multinational oil and gas company in a high-stake Arbitration regarding a highly contentious dispute arising out of a Sale and Purchase Transaction
• Advised and represented a leading US-based entity in connection with the recovery of $1.4 million proceeds fraudulently diverted through a wire scheme.
• Advising a global energy company in relation to potential claims, and litigation regarding its proposed issuance of securities in Nigeria
• Assisted in the conduct of the defense of Lucky Stationaries Nigeria Limited, a leading Nigerian Stationery Company over employment related disputes
• Advising the Central Bank of Nigeria on a range of matters, including a highly contentious dispute arising from foreign exchange (FX) forward transactions.
• Representing TotalEnergies EP Nigeria Limited in an appeal before the Court of Appeal arising from a highly contested ruling of the Federal High Court.
• Advised a leading multinational energy company on employment disputes, debt recovery claims, and the enforcement of contractual rights.
