Femi Matthew

Femi is an associate in the firm’s finance practice group. He graduated with a Second Class (Upper Division) degree from the University of Benin and attended the Nigerian Law School. Femi specializes in providing tailored legal advice to a wide range of local and international clients on various financing deals. His expertise encompasses the loan market, private equity, mergers and acquisition and capital market transactions.

Representative Experience

• Advised a group of investors on the acquisition of a supermajority stake in a leading Pension Fund Administrator.
• Acted as counsel to the sellers in connection with the acquisition of a majority stake in a gas distribution company operating across West Africa.
• Advising an international bank in respect of a US$75 million facility to a multilateral institution headquartered in Nigeria.
• Advised the lenders on the refinancing and structuring of a N6,500,000,000 (Six Billion and Five Hundred Million Naira) term loan facility for borrower operating in the Energy sector.
• Advised a solicitor to the issuer in connection with a N10,000,000,000.00 (ten billion naira) 5-year series 1, fixed-rate senior secured bonds within the framework of a N30,000,000,000 (thirty billion naira) bond issuance programme.
