Gideon Bassey is an Associate in the Firm’s Finance, Energy and Projects Practice Group. Prior to joining Templars, Gideon worked with a pan-African commercial law firm where he advised on power, infrastructure, finance and energy projects. 

Selected Experience

• Advising Nigeria’s power sector’s largest creditor on the dynamics and implications of the decentralization of the Nigerian electricity supply industry on market interventions and credit support provided to successor distribution companies.
• Advising on the divestment of 100% interest Nigerian subsidiaries operating in the midstream and downstream sectors of the Nigerian oil and gas industry.
• Advised a development finance institution on an electricity transition framework for a subnational in view of the transition of the electricity market into a wholesale market and state electricity market.
• Advising on the rehabilitation and modernization of Nigeria’s western ports—Apapa and Tin Can Island.
