We are pleased to partner with the Sickle Cell Foundation of Nigeria to raise awareness for Sickle Cell in Nigeria.

This year, we join the global community to commemorate World Sickle Cell Day on June 19th 2019 – as designated by the United Nations.

Ahead of the World Sickle Cell Day, on Saturday 15th June 2019, the firm championed a charity walk along with partners including Sickle Cell Foundation of Nigeria, several NGOs, the United States Embassy and others. The walk which was tagged: Red Umbrella Walk aimed at creating awareness and drawing attention to issues concerning Sickle Cell in Nigeria. The walk attracted almost 1,000 people who came out to show support for the cause along with members of the media, Templars lawyers, friends and family.

The United Nations General Assembly recognises SCD as a public health problem and “one of the world’s foremost genetic diseases”. Nigeria has been reported to have the highest burden of sickle cell disease (SCD) worldwide. Over 150,000 children are born with SCD in Nigeria each year and over half of these children die before the age of five.

As a cause that is very close to our heart as a firm and as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility Strategy, this partnership affirms our status as a top tier firm that is keen on giving back to the society in which we conduct our business.
