The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), on the 13th of June 2022, issued a draft of the Code of Practice for Interactive Computer Service Platforms/Internet Intermediaries (AKA the Code) for public review and comment.

The Code outlines the best practices required of all Interactive Computer Service Platforms/Internet Intermediaries (ICSPs/IIs, collectively referred to as Platform Providers) to make the digital ecosystem safer for Nigerians and Nigerian residents.

This article briefly highlights some novel provisions the Code seeks to implement, which would significantly modify the existing legislative and regulatory framework for online platforms in Nigeria.
